Another Milestone at SOCAR's HAOR Modernization Project

Another Milestone at SOCAR's HAOR Modernization Project

Last week, Prokon successfully completed the fabrication and installation of a five-section flare boom as part of SOCAR's Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery (HAOR) modernization project.

The flare boom, also known as a burner boom, is one of the essential components of the refinery, designed to protect the facility and the lives of its personnel. Following the successful fabrication of this truss structure (comprising four risers and five structural sections), with a total height of 116 metres and a weight of 201 tons, it was successfully installed at its permanent location at the HAOR.

Notably, the total DIA during the fabrication of the flare boom reached 1,191 inches.

Prokon started the HAOR project in November 2018 as a subcontractor to Kinetics Technology & Tecnimont JV. SOCAR initiated the revamp and upgrade of the refinery to enable the processing of 7.5 MMTPA of crude oil while meeting the quantity and quality requirements of products to both supply the revamped Azerikimya petrochemical plant and produce Euro V-quality automotive fuels.

Prokon's scope includes the construction of main process units, auxiliary units, utilities, and off-site units. For more information, visit the Projects section.
